Happy Fourth of July everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed it. Here we were fed by a member. I think the one notable thing about the past week is that we fed every night, which rarely happens. On Wednesday we went to one members house, which we returned to on Friday with a different member (since the members are young single adults they usually live in sharehouses with other members and sometimes we go to one house several times with completely different groups of people). On the 4th of July we went another members house. The closest we had to American food there was brownies (Nothing wrong with that though!).
On Saturday we had dinner with the roommates of our recent convert who is in China again. Some of our other progressing investigators came too, which was funny. The meal was delicious, completely Asian.
Finally, yesterday was fast sunday, meaning that after church there was the big "fastbreaker" meal. No particular theme this time, it was all really good though. Afterwards we went to the city to talk to people, and one of our investigators (who worked that sunday) gave us free food from their restaurant! It was good.
Anyways. After emailling last P-day we tried to visit a place called Mount Coot-tha, a hill to the west which overlooks Brisbane. In particular we wanted to go to the Planetarium, but it turns out there was no show that day. So we wasted a lot of time :P But it was a good P-day regardless.
We have begun teaching the investigator from Peru I mentioned a few weeks back. In fact, that was who we taught at the member's house on the 4th of July! He's the man. He comes from a Catholic background of course but he is really excited to learn. In particular he was touched by the belief (completely new to him) that God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are separate but united in purpose, something completely new to him. Also, he feels a connection to the Book of Mormon through his Native American heritage.
In other good news: Our investigator who is quiting smoking hasn't smoked since last Wednesday, so she is on track for baptism next sunday! :) Hooray! Hopefully that will be some good news to report next week. She moved in to a member's share house last week as well which is extra cool and helpful too.
That's about it for the week. Hope everyone has a good one! Take care!
