Shorter week to report on, luckily, since it was only (late) last Saturday that I emailed. We've been up later this week because of preparations for the New Missionary Orientation, which is on this coming Thursday and Friday.
Sunday was a great day at church. Out of the blue, one of our two recent converts informed us that she invited her friend to come to church, and her friend accepted! Even more miraculous was the fact that her friend had been taught by the APs that just finished! It was still her first time at church, though. She really enjoyed it---the afternoon and day after she came to church, many other good things spontaneously occurred in her life as well, making it even more positive. We taught her that afternoon and fished up her teaching record (she was last visited only shortly before I came, incidentally). Unfortunately, she will be moving out of the area next week (one of the good things that happened to her was that her application for a different home was accept). She isn't going far, just to the ward north of us, Brackenridge.
Sunday afternoon we thought we might stop by a less active family that we haven't seen in some time. It was a miracle that we did so. Their cousin from Sydney answered the door, because the parents were out, and explained what had happened recently: both parents had lost their jobs, the baby daughter was in poor health, they might have to move houses soon (possibly to Sydney where the daughter can get full time care from the relatives). We immediately informed our Bishop of our visit and that same night he visited them and helped them. He asked us to come again on Monday, when we gave the father (a recent convert) a priesthood blessing. His english isn't great (it is a Samoan family), but the Spirit was powerful.
On Monday, we were in the office for a large part of the day. In the morning we had a staff meeting (attended by us, the office elders, the senior couples, and President and Sister Henderson), followed by an analysis of last week's key indicator reports, going through zone by zone to determine what is needed for the upcoming conferences. When we got out, we saw a few of the people I've mentioned. Then two of our companions started driving down to Ipswich to go on trade-offs with the zone leaders there, while the other companion and I stayed in the area.
Tuesday was a full working day, with a few hiccups as we ran a few errands towards the purpose of getting a new flat (we had one inspection and dealt with paperwork for another flat we applied for already).
Today was our P-day, although a large chunk was taken up by preparations for the New Missionary Orientation meeting which takes place tomorrow. We also ran a few more errands and inspected 3 more potential flats (one was great! So far we have applied for 3 flats, two of which were denied, out of nine inspections total. Two more flats of those we inspected are good, just in case the third application is denied too). We had a good evening, at least, where we went with the Ward Mission Leader to visit a few less-actives in the ward.
